What the session involves
Swedish Massage uses five basic strokes—effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction, and vibration—applied in a continuous sequence. During a 60-minute session therapists blend these strokes with both firm and gentle pressure while using your chosen oil or lotion. We also incorporate light lymphatic drainage techniques where appropriate to encourage fluid movement without promising medical outcomes.
Expect to be draped for comfort and modesty while therapists work one area at a time. Communication about pressure, sensitive areas, and any recent activity will shape the treatment. Sessions are one uninterrupted 60 minutes of hands-on time focused on circulation and muscle tension relief, and therapists will adjust pace based on what you tell them.
Choosing pressure and oil
Before the session your therapist will confirm preferred pressure and choice of oil or lotion; we stock neutral, lightly scented, and hypoallergenic options. Pressure is a trade-off: firmer work reaches deeper muscle layers but can require clear feedback about comfort. Therapists blend strokes to suit your range of motion and sensitivity rather than applying a uniform force.
